About Makgatho Primary School.

Short Background

Makgatho Primary School is named after Sefako Mapogo Makgatho, one of the stalwarts of ANC.  The school was first known as Makgatho Community School later Makgatho Higher Primary school under joint School Board when they separated Zulu School Board, for Zulu speaking community.

The school registered its first learners in January 1960.  the first principal was Mr N.C. Soko.  In 1972 Mr Mdhluli took over as principal.  The school then catered for Zulu speaking learners from standart 3 – 6. In the late 1980s standart 6 was phased out of primary school.  In 1990s we started with grade 1.  Presently we start grades 1 – 7.
